Wingfest 2024, coming off the back of a hugely successful 2023 event we had very high hopes for more of the same.
The attendance from our local community and people coming in from afar was incredible!
The only thing lacking on the Saturday was the breeze, this being said we made the most of the on-the-water vessels we have at our disposal and we fired up the Easyriders Jet ski squadron and had (quite possibly the UK’s 1st) tow foil pump race series resulting in some surprisingly close racing and good spectator sport action.
Throughout Saturday Dom from Foil Drive Europe was quite possibly the busiest brand on the beach running demos and taster sessions every hour all day long in between pump foiling and tow foiling sessions.
Saturday night we all migrated up to our favourite watering hole the BT (Bermuda Triangle in Ashley Cross) for some drinks and food rounding off the day nicely thankyou to our friends at the BT
On Sunday we were welcomed by some classic Sandbanks sunshine as well as the promise of afternoon thermal breeze. With all fingers and toes crossed the breeze filled in earlier than expected at 11am, Arkie our amazing race director was straight out laying a slalom course setup and giving live updates on the wind and by 12pm we had a green light. As we went into sequence the startling start line quickly became populated by nearly 20 racers!
Race 1 was taken by one of our newest Easyriders instructors Bobby Harley but it was a very close fought race. Race 2 was dominated by both Finley Burney and Jowan Vittle, after the initial 2 races we had a pause while we waited for some more consistent breeze to fill in. After this brief pause we were able to run a further 2 races which allowed Finley to pull ahead in the light wind conditions and compile enough points to conclude the racing series for Wingfest 2024.
Anna Collinette put in an amazing performance beating most of the boys most of the time taking first in most races across all age and gender categories. Nick Barnes also came well equipped for light winds and put in a stirling sterling effort taking the masters….we have hope your heart rate has settled back down now Nick.
With sunshine almost all weekend (apart from the biblical downpour Sat lunchtime;-) and a bit of contestable wind on Sunday we had a fantastic Wingfest 2024 and we are already looking forward to next year’s event.
We honestly can’t thank the amazing brands, spectators, racers and the entire Easyriders team
enough for putting on another fantastic event this year! We look forward to the next one!
Along with races they will have the latest kit on demo from all the top brands including Code Foils, Axis, Ozone, F-One, North, AFS, FoilDrive, KT and more.
There will be taster sessions for Foildrive and free land based wing flying tasters. And not forgetting the evening entertainment, hosted again by the Bermuda Triangle (BT) in Ashley Cross.
