A fantastic wind forecast arrived perfectly on time as the BKSA team and kitesurfers from across the country descended on The Beach at Littlehampton for the 3rd event in the 2025 BKSA Big Air series.

Following previous successful events at Greatstone (Kent) and Troon (Scotland), expectation was high for another great competition – and after months of planning the Wind Gods were on our side and the event was able to go ahead on the first possible weekend.

Lewis Crathern was on hand to commentate throughout the competition and bring the whole event to life, whilst also taking time to explain the basics of kitesurfing to many of those new to the sport enjoying the show at The Beach.

Local instructors were also giving free Sport England funded powerkite taster sessions throughout the weekend, helping young people experience powerkiting for the first time and take their first steps in the sport.

Top brands including Duotone, Reedin, O-Zone and F-One supported the weekend; exhibiting all the best kitesurfing kit and enabling local riders to demo the latest gear.

Pro-riders Sam Light and Tom Court also came down to enjoy the competition and the fantastic atmosphere – with Tom filming all weekend and capturing some of the best moments

The competitors gave it everything on the water, with the strong conditions enabling riders to deliver some awesome big air kitesurfing and extreme riding, drawing big cheers from the crowd and showcasing the best of British kitesurfing talent.

The BKSA judges did an excellent job scoring all the heats and finals in Amateur Men’s and Women’s and the Pro Men’s fleet.

Pro Men’s Division winner Jordan Hurst was a popular champion after fighting off stiff competition throughout the heats, especially from the fantastic Archie Luxton in second, who pushed him till the very end. The event got the Final it deserved, as the wind picked up again and the lead changed almost trick by trick, and with only 0.04 of a point between the men in the end.

With such solid and consistent wind, all the heats and finals for the Big Air competition were able to be competed on the Saturday, meaning Sunday was able to be a more chilled affair with Twin Tip racing taking place, some relaxed demo’s and taster sessions and a great community atmosphere on the beach – just what everyone needed after a successful and full-on day of competition and some well earned after party celebrations the previous night.

“It has been an awesome event, which has taken UK events up another level, we are investing heavily in events during 2025 and 6 and this is just what we want to be delivering, alongside the on water action we are delighted to be getting new people into our sport with free east sessions on the beach, it has been a great team effort amongst the race crew.

All in all, it was an awesome weekend for British Kitesurfing, with everyone enjoying the competition, the community and a fantastic venue. Many thanks to our wonderful hosts The Beach Restaurant – James, Mikey, Emma and the whole team and volunteers were a great support throughout the event (especially Simon the Flag Man!) and all enjoyed having the championships at their venue. We will be back next year!
